Lochter Trout Fishery
Lochter is a twelve acre fishery set in the countryside between Inverurie and Oldmeldrum. It is very well maintained and consists of four lochs ( one being in the shape of a fish ) and is stocked with rainbow trout up to 20lbs in weight, with a few even bigger fish.
All the popular rainbow flies work well and you can buy from the selection which is available at reception. Like any fishery, it is always a good idea to have a quick look in the catch book while you are there, as this will show you which methods have been productive. The fishery rules stipulate a minimum breaking strain of 6lbs nylon and when you catch one of their better rainbows you will understand why!
This fishery is a popular bank fly fishing venue for competitions and it hosts some major events to which anglers travel from all over Scotland. Lochter also offers various activities such as clay pigeon shooting, rally karting, archery, target golf, mini highland games and putting. They also specialise in the corporate market and cater for larger occasions such as weddings!
Facilities include a nice picnic and barbecue area, a restaurant, toilets, and a licensed bar. Access for the disabled is good.
