River Don Brown Trout

Inverurie Angling Association

Inverurie Angling Association welcomes new members and offers some great fishing for both members and visitors to Aberdeenshire.

The IAA offers a nice stretch of the River Don and the River Ury for members and visitors to fish at the Inverurie Burgh Fishings ..... and equally good water for club members to fish at the Ardmurdo/Keithhall Fishings below where the two rivers meet.

Both beats are enjoyable to fish and produce some cracking Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon.

Club members receive regular newsletters via email with news about forthcoming events and all things fishing.

Inverurie Burgh Fishings

Inverurie Angling Association offers fishing on the Inverurie Burgh Fishings for both members and visitors.

The new management of this water by the club in 2018 was great news and will hopefully continue for many years to come!

The Inverurie Burgh Fishings extend to approximately six miles, consisting of left bank fishing on the River Don ( plus a short stretch of right bank fishing between the Don Bridge and Bypass bridge ) and right bank fishing on the River Ury.

There are nineteen named pools on the beat, thirteen of these are on the Don. There is a lot of water to explore and a great variety of water to fish, so travel light and move often.

Fishing permits for the Inverurie Burgh Fishings can be purchased at Sloan's Tackle Shop, 125-129 High Street, Inverurie, AB51 3QJ.

Day permits are also available to purchase online via FishPal ...... Click here to visit the Inverurie page on the FishPal website.

Ardmurdo & Keithhall Fishings

Inverurie Angling Association also manages the Ardmurdo & Keithhall Fishings, where a limited number of season permits are available for club members. These become available on a regular basis and members can also fish the water on a day permit.

The Keithhall Fishings start directly below the Inverurie Burgh Fishings and the River Ury. This is left bank fishing on the River Don, most of the Keithhall section is tree lined and the ability to roll cast certainly comes in handy, but the water is deep in places and well worth exploring.

Leaving the trees behind, you now enter the Ardmurdo section and the river flows through more open farmland. There is a good variety of water to fish all the way down the beat, which ends when you reach the marker for the start of the Kintore Fishings.

Fishing permits for the Ardmurdo & Keithhall Fishings are purchased directly from the club secretary (following the closure of Watsons shop).

2018 Summary

A difficult season due to the great weather that we enjoyed, high temperatures and low water conditions not being ideal for fishing. But the River Don actually fished quite well in the Inverurie area all things considered.

Ardmurdo/Keithhall Fishings - catches reported - 47 Salmon, 8 Sea Trout.
Heaviest Salmon 18lb by Mike Thornton, heaviest Sea Trout 4lbs by Gordon Daniels, heaviest Brown Trout 4.5lbs by Mike Barrio.

Inverurie Burgh Fishings - catches reported - 45 Salmon, 5 Sea Trout.
Heaviest Salmon 10lb by Duncan McRae, heaviest Sea Trout 6lb by Duncan McRae, heaviest Brown Trout 6lb.

The club is looking to improve the catch return system in 2019 ( mainly for the Inverurie Burgh Fishings ) as the numbers from the catch returns submitted are possibly somewhat lacking. Please do your bit and remember that it is a condition of your fishing permit to report your catches.
