Free casting tuition at Forres
« on: 31/01/2022 at 10:19 »
So, every year Forres Angling Association run free casting tuition on two Sunday mornings. I attended this Sunday, on the Findhorn at Forres

A couple of the tutors are Ian Gordon and Tom Brown.

I went along as i don't swing a double hander very often, if at all, during an average season however with an up-and-coming trip I thought I had better !

What did I learn ?
1) I can still 'circle' C cast
2) 'downgrading' my rod to a Shakey Oracle Scandi and the line to an Airflo Rage compact was still a great move - even an idiot like me can get a line out
3) I still don't like a single spey - I'll stick to sustained anchors thank you !
4) My waders that suffered the mouse attack on the stocking feet in Assynt and that I sealed with aquasure don't let in water - result !
5) My wading boots that were a little too big ( having changes my neoprene waders that have smaller feet !)  - well that problem was solved thanks to the sub-£30 purchase of some orvis wet wading neoprene socks. I can put these over the top of my waders, this making the boots a better fit

so, all good  :z16

Did Ian Gordon demon demonstrate one of his new Cadence rods?

Pleased that the wader repair worked ok - I can still see the look on your face..... :)

Now you mention it, he was using a wee double hander that had what looked like a foam handle as opposed to a cork one......

I didnt hear him pushing his brand, but he never does on these casting days. When he was 'Hardys' you could see him using Hardy kit but it was never mentioned by name - so i think you are right in that he was using one of 'his' rods.

I've never quite forgotten those pesky mice  *smiley-lol*
