Lochter Report - Lovely June is Here
« on: 15/06/2021 at 12:44 »
Down Lochter way last week the much deserved warm weather brought to mind the childhood poem about June:-

‘Far up in the deep blue sky,
Great white clouds are floating by,
All the world is dressed in green,
Many happy birds are seen,
Roses bright and sunshine clear,
Show that lovely June is here!’

We had a lot of content fishers out last week, some just seeking the solace of casting a fly in the lovely surroundings while others were trying to ‘match the hatch’ which occurred daily. The fish were teasingly abundant on top of the water but trying to consistently hook one on was a different matter.

Graham Wilson from Newmachar however did well on CDC emergers when a bit of cloud built up and he had 15 fish for his session. Jim Adie did well again on his own tied ‘smoker’ fly and was well into double figures.

Ian Fong was also well into double figures during his day session using nymphs and buzzers and his fishing partner Forbes Gallacher had 10 fish using ‘small stuff’.

Derek Christie had 12 fish to the net using either an orange or yellow mop fly, James Masson had 10 on nymphs and Albert Cowie had 10 on buzzers and crunchers. Other flies that proved effective during the week were green ribbed diawl bachs, green headed okay dokay’s and bronze or brown crunchers.

The staff at Lochter really appreciate all the recent positive feedback about the quality of the fishing and how well the grounds and kept.

Thank you very much and tight lines,

S.P 15/6/21
