Hi all.

Stumbled on this site about six months ago while looking up the Sutherland Special on the web.
I used to work with Ronnie who invented and made the Special.
One of your members was asking if he was still alive. Well Ronnie retired from J & J Crombie 32 years ago and in that time I have seen him only twice, even though I live in The Bridge Of Don as did he.
Well yesterday down at Aberdeen beach who did I bump into,  Ronnie and his wife, both very much alive, still living at the same house in BOD, albeit Ronnies a bit frail now but at 97 years young thats understandable.
I myself am not into fishing but do know how good the Sutherland Special was, having spoken to friends and Ronnie himself, so just thought I'd let you know he was still on the go.

some of my 'mint' sutherlands....
i just love them.....if only someone would make them again....

I do have some that get a swim on occasion but these are 'kept for good'

the patent will have run out so someone just needs a 'project'

even if someone would just to an all plastic version that would be amazing....and cheap....

it the aggressive action that i love - it really rattles the rod tip and you can feel it working big style...
