We are at the height of the party conference season – that’s the time when politicians get together to promise no jam today, but jam tomorrow! Accusations fly around of nicking each other’s ideas – particularly when it comes to “jam tomorrow”.
As anglers we are sometimes loath to ask fellow fishers what is working for them. Most are willing to share the information, except perhaps in a competition, and a bit of conferring can often result in more success and better catches.
On the competition front entries are still being accepted for the Lochter Autumn Singles on Sunday 14th October. The cast off time is 9.30am. Anglers should phone 01651 872787 to enter.
The fishing has certainly livened up over the past week with some excellent bags and big trout being landed.
Peter Young has fifteen on a mix of lures and buzzers while Graham Duthie stuck with WSW’s and landed nineteen. The Blobby Boys Billy and Doug had thirty-two between them using a blob on the point and buzzers on the droppers. Bill Gibb was “trootin aboot” and tempted thirteen mainly on small nymphs. Keith Bruce had a great day with fourteen on cormorants. He kept two for his tea and returned the remainder. The Whyte Duo had two lovely trout in their bag of eighteen, one just over 9 ˝lbs and the other just on 8lbs. They used a variety of lures to keep the fish coming.
Now that October is here the fishery will open at 8am and close at 5.30pm, plenty of time for anglers to have an enjoyable and productive day on the water.
