River Don 2018
« on: 02/02/2018 at 09:31 »
It will soon be time for the Annual March To The River Don to celebrate the start of the new season.

The river opens for Salmon fishing on Monday the 12th of February this year, so with the March being held on the first Saturday of the season, folk will be gathering at the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie from 9am for coffee/tea on the 17th of February and the March will set off at 9.30.

I enjoy this event, it's great to meet up with folk that you haven't seen for a while :z12

Initial catches on the Dee are fine and so let's hope the Don reciprocates

I have just added a new page to the website for Inverurie Angling Association.

Click on 'Clubs' in the main menu, or click here to view the page https://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/inverurie-angling-association.html

All the latest details about club membership, the Inverurie Burgh Fishings and the Ardmurdo & Keithhall Fishings ..... I hope you find it useful :z16

Best wishes
Mike

The weather has been awful but has anyone braved the elements yet?

I was due out today but the 50mph winds and snow put me off.

I fished Monday, and whilst the Salmon were absent, I hooked a 2.5lb Brownie. Bloody typical! Bet as soon as I go through the same pool with a nymph I will hook a Salmon.

Gale force winds today and tomorrow.

Freezing on Saturday.  I’ve also been told there’s still a fair bit of snow lying up beyond Alford although I’ve not seen it.

Just wish this weather would turn.  Clocks forward next weekend though, warm up by a few degrees and were good to go.

Dave, a lot of snow with us above Alford, but it's taking a fair shift the last 24hrs, rivers on its way up & coloured up with melt water., 30-40mph wind & Liam's enroute & still optimistic as ever 🤣

Mike,

The weather is fantastic out here In Brunei. Hopefully it will be fine at the beginning of April when I get back and I can buy (at a serious discount) all of Liam’s tackle and go out and have some fun. 😂

Tight lines to all for 2018 once the ice age is gone,

Eddie

There are a couple of places available on the Ardmurdo/Keithhall Fishings below Inverurie this year, these don't come up often - so be quick to apply if you fancy joining :wink

You'll find details on the IAA page here: https://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/inverurie-angling-association.html

Cheers

Mike,

Is there a link to the online permit for the Inverurie Burgh Fishings yet?

Cheers

Hi Ashley,

Sloan's are selling the Inverurie Burgh Permits this year and I don't think that there is an online option now.

Brian.

Anybody applying for the ardmudo/keithall fishing will likely cross paths with either me or Sinclair senior this season. Not sure whether this is a good or a bad thing 😂

Cheers,

Steven.

Not yet Ash, might be a while yet, if it is done this season.

As Brian said ......... probably best to drop in to Sloans and get one there :wink

Hi Colin

I think all the Ardmurdo/Keithhall permits are available from Watsons Ironmongers.

Cheers
