Hi folks

A question that I am often asked at Haddo is "Where would be a good place to get a meal after our fishing?"

Trouble is I'm always at the fishery, so I don't get out enough to know where to recommend

So what would the forum members suggest

Let's make this two types of suggestions for The Best Pub Grub

(1) After a fishing session at Haddo, I would suggest "xxxxxxxxxx" for a very good meal etc
(2) After a fishing session at "xxxxxxxxx" I would suggest "xxxxxxxxxx" for a very good meal etc

I usually head for home after Haddo so I dont know any in the area.

I would recommend the Seaview in Boddam if you are  doing a bit of sea fishing or SWFF in the Peterhead area the small hotel overlooks the harbour in Boddam so if you are  looking for a hearty meal after Bass fishing in the area it does a great "High Tea"

Dont be put of by the 70's decor, the food is good and great value for money , the last time we were there, there  were 7 adults and 3 kids , we had  the "High Tea's" drinks and two bottles of wine , all for under £100 , beat that for value

i have not been to the seaview for a couple of years but have had many a good meal there and very reasonable as you say, i would recommend it

After a winter fishing session at Haddo,  a visit to Planet Spice in Inverurie for a decent curry is a worthwhile plan 
After a fishing session on the River Don near Alford I would suggest the Muggarthaugh Hotel (Muggarts) for a very good meal and better still a decent pint

After fishing the Deveron "bridge of Marnoch" i would reccomend the Bognie arms hotel

Grayling fishing on the River Earn. Head for the Coll Earn Hotell which is off the Main ST. Auchterarder. Good steaks at a fair price but best of all a "roaring" log fire

Seaview in Boddam is really good for a pub lunch, as is the Country Park Inn in Mintlaw!

Isn't the pub in Methlic supposed to be good?

They're just under new management its now called the spice of life its even better. I don't know whats more worrying though the fact that they personally greet us and know its us on the phone or actually gave us a christmas present?

My friends and I will always remember the fantastic stake with bacon and stilton (with fries and salad on the side) we had in the Forbes Arms in Bridge of Alford, after fishing the Don at Monymusk. As far as I can recall the pints of lager went down pretty good as well...

has anyone tried roys bus A96 just outside inverurie, good for all day breakfast before fishing,and a fare lunch and meal for after fishing,well priced menu and recomended,try it,its good.

good food, reasonably priced and a nice fire on cold days

I can definately recommend the Ythan View in Methlick (I live in the village) great food and people. Food is served 12-2pm then 5pm-830pm ish weekdays, same at weekends but with specials on the menu from Friday night. I have stuffed myself many times and can recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding!

Can't agree, the new owners wife used to Manage the place, have tried it and as good as always

Not exactly in you guys' area, but the Craigton Coach Inn at Monikie (Angus) tries to get your belt to bust with the portions you get there, and the quality of nosh is unsurpassed as well .

May mean there's a lot of "large" people around Monikie???

Like haddie and chips actually means two big  and a mountain of chips served on a plate like a dustbin lid.

Some of the very finest pub grub ever served to ravenous fishers. The owner's on site, behind the bar - so the place is run right.
