[Dutchfly]

Hi All,

Next year we'll fish the lochs of Rhiconich Hotel (Sutherland, near Scourie). Last visit, the Golden Olive Bumble gave great results, so I'll be tying a lot of them in weeks to come. 

When tying them, I'm allways struggling with the Blue Jay hackle. One turn, as many turns as the hackle will give me, even the method described in FF&FT a few years back, I'm never 100% happy with the endresult. The flies catch fish so basically that should suffice, but I simply want to improve them.

Therefore, any 'tips and tricks' on the subject are very welcome!

Nice to hear you'll be making use of those feathers 

I strip off the blue jay fibres from the wing feather and 'bunch' then around the head of the fly before tying them in, I find I get good results albeit you need to be careful the feather fibres don't twist as you tie them in.
