Glass bead uncased caddis
« on: 19/11/2016 at 12:38 »
At the risk of being called a 'maggot drowner', I was playing with glass beads again this week and came up with these. I like the segmented effect, and whilst yet to be swum I'm convinced they'll work.  They generated a bit of interest on 'another forum', so thought I'd pop them on here in case they're of interest to members here. The glass beads are 99p for several hundred so they're 'cheap as chips' to make.

You can wind stuff through the beads too... wool or somesuch teased out and inserted in split thread before taking forward up the body.

These could be uncased caddis or Rhyac...

Some might question whether it's 'tying' in the strictest sense, but hey.... just having a bit of fun at the vise.

Nor sure where you are based, but Hobbycraft do them as well as hundreds of craft shops such as Megs Attic in Banchory. (So cheap compared to tackle shops too).

Failing that, you can get online too. http://www.bakerross.co.uk/arts-and-crafts/craft-supplies/embellishments-trims/beads?&mkwid=s3nYXo5jW_dc&pcrid=147943220568&kword=%2Bbeads%20%2Bfor%20%2Bbracelets&match=b&plid=&gclid=CMm5yb7zy9ACFcG4GwodLGMMqA

Cheers gents.

I'll get the Mrs to pick some up in hobbycraft next time she is picking up her crochet nonsense.

Cheers,

Steven
