Fly Swap??
« on: 03/02/2016 at 23:26 »
Would anyone be willing to take part in a fly swap? We could do it in the same format as the FFF ones i.e depending on how many are taking part you tie one fly for each and one or two extra for a good cause (charity, WTT etc...).

I'm bored mindless job hunting and have plenty of time to organise it.

Liam,

I would be up for that. I have done this previously and it is good to swap patterns.

Liam,

Count me in also!

Ps I think I've cracked your threadless squirms. What a faff I had figuring out the best way of pulling it through the bead!

Cheers,

Steven.

Family affair so far then!  :z16
Anyone else up for it?

Good stuff Steven, I must confess I have started adding a ball of dubbing to lock everything in place behind the bead. I found they were slipping sometimes on the cast  :X1

Any suggestions for the topic??

What sort of timescale

I need something to kick start me into tying a few flies, i have one or two gaps to fill.

Running off a dozen flees would be nae problem, especially if its river dries :z16 already know which one i'm doing :wink

So count me in.

Hoping to get things underway this week and hopefully all finished by the end of Feb. Does that work for everyone so far?

River Dries then?

5 participants so far each tying 12 flies?  :z16

60 flies in total. Meaning we all get 3 flies from each of the other participants. So we will all recieved a set of 12 flies. Leaving a box of 12 for a charity!  :z16

If anyone else would like to join we can re-juggle the numbers to make it work.

Hope that makes sense to all taking part  :X2

So, is there a bowl in the middle of the table and we all place our car keys in it? ;)

Liam,

end of first week in March would work for me as I will be home on holiday then and posting from Dubai has proved troublesome in the past.

With my father and I involved I'm fairly sure that there are laws against that....

Liam,

I have made two lots of flies because I was not entirely sure of my first dozen which were somewhat of an experiment. I am happier with the second dozen which is a fly that has done damage for me before.

do we put photos up of the flies that we are submitting or is it a secret until you deliver them to the participants?

I am sure that my flies will be a variant on the same  theme as others if we are making river dries, it will be interesting to see what everybody puts in.

Getting closer to getting the vice out :X2

I think a few photo's might encourage people to join in, if they can see what they are missing out on. :z16

Must admit I haven't started mine yet!  :X1

I'm going to try a different fly as I'm sure a lot of people will be thinking along the same lines  :wink
