Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

The past week has seen winter weather arriving with lower temperatures, cold winds and a good covering of snow this weekend. Needless to say the conditions have deterred all but the hardiest of anglers, although good catches were recorded to them. The best amongst these anglers were:-

A Gibson, Gardenstown    13 fish     Diawl Bach Nymphs, Blob
N Thomson, Turriff            12 fish      Buzzers, Green Blob
J West, Fraserburgh            6 fish       Various Lures
K Fraser, Greeness              5 fish       Various Lures

Following the rainfall this week the water has coloured but was clearing again at the weekend. With the forecast for the coming week being more favourable with milder weather approaching from midweek, the conditions are now decidedly favouring the Lure fishermen with rather less fish activity in the upper levels of the water column.

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days a week from 8.00am until dusk and visitors & novices are always welcome. Booking is not necessary. Boats (when required), rods & tackle are available for hire at the fishery and up to date information on water conditions etc can be had by phoning Bob on 07980 999006

The Fishery will remain open during the festive season apart from Christmas Day & New Years Day.
