Flies for 2016
« on: 13/10/2015 at 16:08 »
Hi guys  :z16

I thought it would be nice to have a place to share and discuss flies and or anything fly tying in preparation for next year. I know it's a long way away but it's good to be prepared!  :X2

I hope a few of you join in posting over the close season.

Heres a handful of whispy Bloas to get things started. Tied on size 12 B160s, a good hook for a great fly!

Another staple in my box all season in 14-16s. It's a 3 material fly and takes 2 minutes to tie!  :z16

Failure turned to  success tonight. A slightly long wing on a F-Fly pissed me off and as a result I roughed the fly up. The wing cocked and the body became even buggier. I liked what I was seeing!

The result:

I'm going to tie some in 12-14 for the early season MB.

My most productive nymph of last year. Mainly because I fished them 90% of the time.

The Frenchie:

I'll be tying a shitload for sure!  :z16

I know the fly you mean Allan, black body, silver rib, red holo tag and peacock glister thorax. I think it's called the French Nymph.... The one I've tied is big amount at the American comp guys. But you are right mine are just a fancy PTN  :z16

Anyone got any flies coming off their vice?

I feel a tad embarrassed to post this on a page with proper fleas but i've been steadily tying some Stockie bashing fleas for the winter. I don't normally bother tying, preferring to raid my dad's boxes when the opportunity arises but there are some flies that he just point blank refuses to tie  :z7

Stevie,

you are right a man needs to have some standards, However behind the vice with the tube fly for March the eagle eyed among you will spot some horrible lure thingys amongst the wets for next summer. Roll on March and some spring fishing when I am home on holiday.

Stevie,

just in case you thought that I had gone to the dark side by making a couple of lures for you, here are the new wet flies for 2016.

Pfft I'd argue that some of those wets are merely "gentlemans" lures anyway.

P.s Many thanks for tying them for me though. Would be a shame for such bonnie fleas to not result in decent fish...

After tying 170 lures I started to get rather bored looking at them so i've started to play around with some buzzery type patterns.

As Dad pointed out the thorax's on the Seals Fur efforts are quite large but the plan there is to use them ginked up as suspenders. It's been a while since I tied anything this small so please excuse the roughness of them. For the past 4 years i've only been tying for Snakehead and Peacock Bass.

Some  small-ish ones  :z16

My top buzzer pattern for the rainbows. Simple little brassie style flies.

A little baetis nymph for the rivers. Modelled on Dave Wiltshires thread nymph. Again super simple but will no doubt produce!
