Homemade rod dryer motor
« on: 02/10/2015 at 20:09 »
I am building a homemade rod dryer and am going to use a microwave motor to turn the rod while the epoxy is drying. Will the motor at 5 rpm be ok for the job, will it need a heat sink to prevent it overheating?

5rpm is ok for drying, but if it can be sped up for application it makes life much easier. The American Tackle rod drier is 9rpm, as is the RDS, with 18 for application. The Flexicoat is 6rpm for drying and 40 rpm for application.

As for a heat sink....does the microwave have one?
