A week of mixed weather and good fishing. The temperatures have taken a decided tumble and with accompanying cold westerly and northerly winds the air temperatures remained low although water temperatures in the intermittent sunshine remained higher. The fish appeared confused with some anglers enjoying good sport on the dry fly whilst buzzers and nymphs in the top two feet also yielded results. Despite the surface and sub surface activity lures of all derivations also saw good results. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 30 fish, (diawl bach, white fritz), A Murray, Gardenstown, 25 fish, (green/black fritz, white nomad), S Thomson, Coatbridge, 14 fish, (spider, black gnat), J Laing, Aberdeen, 14 fish, (daddy), A Birnie, Ellon, 11 fish, (spider snatcher), R Humbly, Inverurie, 11 fish, (white/ pink fritz), J Eddie, Peterhead, 10 fish, (damsel), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (diawl bach, pink buzzer), G Mitchell, Gardenstown, 7 fish, (black spider).
The forecast for the next few days and the week ahead is for the winds to ease considerably and rainfall should reduce to seasonal showers, albeit some heavy. The temperature will remain decidedly low for the time of the year and sunshine will be intermittent with cloud cover prevailing.
