The past week has seen a continuation of the variable weather conditions experienced for the past two months resulting in the fish being fickle in their feeding habits to the extent that on some days lures were the only success whilst on other days better offers were obtained from dry flies and buzzers. The fishing has been quite erratic but more encouraging was the emergence of bigger fish with several landed in the six to eight pounds region and also the appearance of the blue trout as they become more active. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, (several visits), 41 fish, (green/black fritz, white and black nomad), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (diawl bach), J West, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (dry fly, black spider), J Mackay, Macduff, 7 fish, (pink blob), G Reid, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (dry fly, buzzer), J Alexander, Macduff, 6 fish, (buzzers), A McMuir, Perth, 5 fish, (suspended buzzer), G Moir, Dyce, 5 fish, (black buzzers).
The forecast for the coming week heralds the start of summer with much higher temperatures from Tuesday and continuing for the rest of the week. Hopefully this will result in more settled fishing conditions.
