The last week has seen the weather improve although not reaching the temperatures we would expect. The persistent northerly winds have continued and have driven the fish to feed deeper. The predominance of lures and intermediate and sinking lines bear witness to the levels at which the fish are operating although at times, when the air and water temperatures rise, buzzers and the occasional dry fly have proved successful. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 35 fish (several visits), (black nomad, black/green fritz), M Rawding, Fraserburgh, 24 fish, (cat's whisker, okay dokay), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (diawl bach, yellow cat's whisker), W Deeming, Peterhead, 14 fish, (cat's whisker, yellow lure), R Deeming, Peterhead, 13 fish, (cat's whisker, green/yellow lure), D Ward, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (blobs), S Rankin, Peterhead, 7 fish, (buzzers), I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (black buzzers), J Adie, Inverurie, 7 fish, (orange buzzers), D Hardie, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (deer's hair, okay dokay).
The weather for the coming week remains decidedly unsettled although it is suggested that the temperatures may start to rise towards the weekend.
