Fly tying and small babies do not mix  :shock They don't make good dubbing  :z7

Bloody nightmare, I am trying to get loads of flies tied for an assault on the Uists this month and junior is having other ideas about that.
Ah well.... bless him  ZX2

Hamish, you are not thinking outside the box :)

Cotton buds make acceptable tube flies, cotton wool can be used as a dubbin, safety pins are useful for pinning capes to cardboard to keep them flat, the boxes that babt wipes come in are great for storing materials...the list is endless ;)

There is already far too much fly tying equipment in the house needing sorting out Rob without me sorting through juniors rubbish for more :wink
We have reached an accommodation though.... when he's sleeping I tie flies. Wee sh1te doesn't sleep much  :z10 :z7 :z4

It gets better Hamish! I am at the phase of "Dad, will you teach me to tie flies?"

Sounds good, but every fly is pink, and involves copious amounts of sparkle!!

H,

it does not get better, they steal your tackle when they grow up and then it costs a fortune to buy them their own and eventually they become better at casting than you do, it is all downhill from here.

But looking a looong way ahead, eventually they'll take you fishing, let you use all their modern gear, help you thread the rings and tie on the flies that you can no longer see, and even land your fish for you. And they'll love doing it!  :z18

Glad you finally admitted it  :z7 however you still have the upper hand with the big rod. How a little manny can cast that far with that technique is beyond me  :z8 :z8 :z8

I took my eldest daughter fishing when she was 4 or 5. She had a small spinning rod and managed a Pike of 9 lbs!

My youngest daughter is a wizard with a whip and maggot and seems to be able to knock roach and rudd out at 2-4 fish a minute! She should take up match fishing...but she has discovered horses now :(
