The past week has seen favourable fishing conditions apart from periods of bright sunshine. The fishery would still benefit from some rainfall which is forecast to come over the weekend and sporadically over the next seven days. The fishing this week has been receptive to the dry fly but the catches still fell mainly to buzzers and spiders indicating the fish to be feeding in the top 2-3ft of the water column. Lures in all their various varieties and colours proved productive and responding well to intermediate lines on a fast retrieve. The water is now remaining crystal clear and relatively weed free.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 54 fish (over several visits), (Green/Black Fritz, Nomad), F Carle, Newmachar, 18 fish, (Bloodworm), J Abel, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (Blobs), A McAlley, Dyce, 9 fish, (Green Fritz), I Watt, Turriff, 9 fish, (Buzzers), K Armstrong, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Buzzers), C Mutch, Ellon, 8 fish, (Buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 7 fish, (Nomad, Buzzers), J West, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Buzzers), P Broadley, Ellon, 7 fish, (Spiders).
