Glen of rothes trout and coarse fishery
Tactics needed to be adjusted to the temperatures this week and intermediate lines were certainly needed during the days and when cooler floating lines came into their own.Fish went deep on hotter days and lures had to be used to entice fish.Orange lures did well on brighter days and black was the pick when there was some duller conditions. It was not a week for huge numbers of fish caught by anglers despite stocking twice weekly, but most averaged 2 to 4 fish per session with some doing well in these conditions with 8 plus.Best of the numbers was Rob Harding with 16 fish.Despite no great numbers the fish which stuck to the fly rather than lost were very good sized fish and fought well. Some of the fish caught this week were,Dave Morrison with 2 fish for 11lbs 5ozs,6lb 11 and a 4lb 10ozs Blue making up his bag, Duncan Wright had a 4lb 6oz fish,Gordon Burr had a bag of 3 fish for 15lb 12ozs best at 6lb 4oz,Charles Phillips a 4lb 15oz,Bill Castles 4lb 14oz,Adam Brain a 6lb 1ozs fish,Jim Eddie a 4lb 14oz,Grant Kerr 5lb 8ozs,Owen Fraser a 7lb Blue,Euan Fraser a 4lb 6oz,Jason Kennie had a return bag of a 6lb 2oz fish and a 4lb 9ozs Blue,Chris Johnston a 4lb 6oz,Kev Middlemiss a 4lb 6oz,Ian Savage a 4lb 4oz,Murray Fowler a 6lb fish,Andrew More a 4lb 2oz fish.
Opening times for the fishery are 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm not as previously published where it showed closing at 8pm,it is 10 pm.
Coarse loch
The loch has fished extremely well this week continuing to produce good bags of fish for anglers and Carp are now very actively feeding.Sweetcorn and Boilies did well with meat and soft pellet also working very well both on method feeder and the pole.Action has been constant for many here and as it is now busy it is important that pegs are booked otherwise you could miss out.John Allsopp has had good bags of Bream and Ide and lost a good sized Carp,Dave Latty had a great session with alot of bream, ide and roach and Carp of 12lbs,6lbs and smaler ones,Scott Arthur who targetted the Carp had plenty to 3lb 9ozs all in prime condition with a Golden Orfe of 2lb 8ozs but missed out on the larger specimens seen on the surface feeding in the warm conditions,Sue Rowley enjoyed her day with roach and gudgeon,Olly wayne had a great day with a Golden Orfe of 3lb 8ozs,Carp to 5lb 8ozs and ide and roach.
Millbuies trout fishery
Fishing has been good this week despite the temperatures being high during the day the evening sessions have done well. The water level is low at present and fish have moved into the deeper water because of this. With the warm conditions and a valve left open by an engineer during the week didnt help..(Before any rumours start that there is problems which there isn't at present, apart from lack of rain, this is the facts to the low water before any rumours start,NO FISH have been lost and they are fine.)This has now been closed off and fixed and rain will help ,if we get any,to get the levels back up.Thankfully fish seem quite content and are still coming to the fly. Some examples of catches this week are,Alan Grant 2,Reece Morris 2,Gary Wilson 7,Daniel gayne 3,Jim Mitchell 14,Michael Mitchell 16,Ryan Williamson 5,Stuart Geddes 8,Dale Fawcett had 1 which was a cracker of of 7lbs,Danny Ross 1 and Neil Stone had 3. We are keeping an eye on the levels daily and may have to adjust if it drops too much for the benefit of the fish which is more important.
