Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

A new month with the advent of March which will hopefully lead to more settled fishing conditions. The past week has produced mixed results with the fish "taking" intermittently and mostly from the bottom. Lures were the best option this past month with the WSW in various colours and blobs giving the best results.
The continued freedom from iced water, and with access never impaired by snowy conditions, mean it has been a very open winter.
The best recorded catches this week fell to a trio from Aberdeen who all enjoyed a good days fishing on Friday. The three most successful anglers were; L Adams, Aberdeen, 14 fish to 4lb (blob/bloodworm), D Wood, Aberdeen, 10 fish, (WSW), W Senior, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (WSW/blob).
The forecast for the coming week continues mixed with a threat of lower temperatures and continued intermittent rain and wind.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 5:00pm. The closing times will be extended after the clock change on 30th March and will be adjusted weekly according to light conditions.
Visitors and novices are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
