Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

The past week has seen the fishery enjoying good and settled weather conditions with the temperatures remaining moderate for the time of the year. We have now entered December and as yet had no indications of icing conditions and although the water is distinctly chilly, the fish have continued to feed aggressively leading to good catches. The instances of surface activity remain high and although most catches were recorded to lures, the takes were at quite high water levels and in response to a quick retrieve.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Gibson, Gardenstown, 20 fish, (yellow dancer/blobs), A Murray, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (various fritz), S McLean, Fraserburgh, 17 fish, (white fritz), P Keir, Fyvie, 17 fish, (olive fritz), M Stewart, Methlick, 15 fish, (olive fritz), J West, Fraserburgh, 15 fish, (pink blob), B Cresswell, Macduff, 13 fish, (cat's whiskers), N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 11 fish, (various lures).
P Keir recorded a 10lb specimen amongst his 17 fish.
The forecast for the first half of this week is continuing in the same vein with more wintry conditions and lower temperatures suggested for the weekend.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am til 4:00pm (light permitting). Booking is not necessary and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
