Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

The past week has not been too unkind with regard to angling weather despite it being the end of October, with above seasonal temperatures and an acceptable level of rain and wind.
The fish have however decided that dry fly activity is on the wane although they have not gone too deep allowing wet flies and buzzers to feature predominantly in catches and even lures and nymphs have been more successful when not fished too deep. An active return has been more successful when fishing lures especially with intermediate or sink lines.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Keir, Fyvie, 20 fish, (olive damsel), C Merrilees, Aberdeen, 11 fish, (WSW), A Murray, Gardenstown, 11 fish, (cat's whiskers), N Thomson, Turriff, 11 fish, (green buzzers), S Sinclair, Stonehaven, 9 fish, (buzzers/wet flies), S Paterson, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (WSW), L Welsh, Stonehaven, 8 fish, (buzzers/wet flies), P Broadley, Ellon, 8 fish, (buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 7 fish, (diawl bach).
The fish continue to present themselves in good condition and putting up a good fight. The forecast for the coming week continues in a mixed vein but still appears conducive to reasonable fishing.
