The holiday makers have been out in force at Lochter this week and several showery days certainly refreshed the lochs and the fish have responded by actively feeding again.
John Wiseman from Paisley fished patiently throughout the day on the muckle trout loch using a yellow dancer and was rewarded with 9 fish for his 8 hour session, one which weighed 9lb on the scales/
Les Devlin from Glasgow arrived for an evening session and had great fun on black ants of size 16, then changed to white moths and all told he had 11 fish.
There were some prolific evening rises and those vacationers who shared in the fun were Tom Burns from Lanark who had 8 fish on a combination of olive dun then grey wolff.
Danny McRuvie from Ayrshire had 7 fish for his evening on small black drys and Graham MacDonald from Inverness had 6 on a black pennell and Kate McLaren.
Local anglers also fared well with Paul Sharp from Westhill netting 25 fish on a selection of dry’s, Robert William;s had 12 on buzzers, Alan Logan from Cults had 8 on small nymphs, Jim Will from Newmachar had 7 on bibio’s and black hoppers and Dave Taylor from Aberdeen had 11 on various colours of fritz.
In the Summer Series qualifying heat on Sunday, the 4 qualifiers were Greg Leslie, Tyler Hay, Chris McAllister and Bill Bain. They will go forward to the final on Sunday 6th October where £1,000 in prize money is up for grabs.
