Following a week of more settled weather, fish catches have improved although the fish seem very particular regarding sunlight and wind conditions. All we need now is some rainfall to flush out the water and lower the water temperature. Whilst lures have been the most successful end tackle when the fish are deep an increasing number have been caught on buzzers, bloodworm and nymphs with the dry fly beginning to emerge as a catching force.
The best catches this week fell to: D Taylor, Aberdeen, 21 fish, (cat's whisker), A Murray, Gardenstown, 19 fish, (olive, green and white fritz), G Flett, Banff, 13 fish, (nymphs), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (buzzers, bloodworm), L Sleeman, Macduff, 8 fish, (yellow dancer), W Senior, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (WSW), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (Buzzers), P Wilson, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (white fritz).
N Thomson included a 14 and a half lb specimen amongst his catch with several other anglers landing fish in the 10lb plus range.
The weather this week looks fairly settled and will hopefully lead to more surface activity.
