You'll not go far wrong to ring Hugo Ross in Wick http://www.hugoross.co.uk/ Hugo is a decent bloke who will give you solid advice  :z16
My advice would be to ignore the sinking line at your peril  :wink

And the Shuggie !!  :X2

Maybes aye..... maybes no  :z13  :wink I will say that a day on Watten made me reconsider my use of sinking lines on lochs; they are now a standard part of my armoury :z16

Beware bright and cold days we had a week of that, we found other lochs that fished better on such days, on our last day 9 boats had 2 trout between them, its that kind of loch, but good luck with the weather easgach 1

That's what the sunk lines are for Derek, either that or fish it at night.

Agree that other waters in the area can often be better though, Hugo will keep you right on this score.

I never use floaters DF, I use inters or slow sink all the time our mutual friend had the only fish we saw on watten on his floater, I thought we had much better fishing on some of the other lochs( at least I did) but Dunnet Head was like the arctic that week, our mutual friend says he wont go back :shock  easgach 1
