Troutmasters Brave the Conditions.
On Sunday, In conditions which would have tested Ernest Shacketon ,a troup of intrepid anglers filed out of the cosy bothy at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum to compete in the competition to represent the fishery in the Troutmasters Final at Grafham Reservoir later in the year.
With an East wind blowing that would have cut the face off you and intermittent flurries of snow fishing was exceptionally hard and all credit to the fishers including some juniors for sticking to their task literally to the bitter end.
When the bones had thawed out and the scores were totted up it was Willie McRobbie from Aberdeen who was declared senior winner with Ryan Easton from Perth going forward to represent Lochter in the Junior Final.
Earlier in the week fishing was much curtailed by snow and ice. The boys from BT did venture out with S Argo top scorer with eight all on a white WSW.
Although the forecast for the week is not great perhaps it is time to cast off the winter gloom and look forward to the Spring Season of competition.
