Hi folks

For those of you that enjoy distance casting competitions, we know that many of you were using home tuned heads cut from our GT140 lines for 27g "Sea Trout Distance" casting. When we replaced the GT140 with the new GT125 lines, we were aware that the GT125 profile was not ideal for this and that to achieve the target weight, the heads would be too long for most people.

We think that casting the 27g heads can be great fun and not wanting to lose our success in this field, we have been developing a new line profile specifically for this purpose :wink

We have developed two great heads ( a short head and a long head ) which are superb to cast and these are currently being manufactured in an original format that will be great for home tuning.

The new heads will be available soon and more details will follow .... watch this space! :z16

Best wishes
Mike

They are tournament casting heads Rob, use any rod you like mate!  I'm usin an Orvis Access 9' #12 that CCS's approx ERN 15.5 & AA 70 something.  Oher guys are throwing them on anything from 10' #7's to T38 rods.

Best cast was 51m with the short cut in a good blow, long cut has hit 43m in a flat calm which I'm happy with.

Cheers

It does go a long way, providing the rod is soft enough  :z4

Shame you'll not make Pitea Lasse.

Cheers

So, a 10 foot spinning rod would be ideal? ;)

You build it on a nice parabolic action spinning rod with the correct full wells grip and I'll cast it for you Rob :z16

I bet there are a few "corporations" looking at their R&D boffins and asking why a Kiwi in a shed can produce lines that are taking the casting and fishing world apart!!

Nice one Mike!

Allan and Rob are right. The big tackle companies must be head scratching right now. I'll bet there are a couple of orders from  Rio and SA on the website soon!

Checking over a new batch of ST27 tournament heads this morning

Available from my website here https://www.flylineshop.com/shop.html#!/Barrio-ST27-Tournament-Head/p/58227563/category=15953062

The Barrio ST27 tournament head has been designed specifically for 27 gram distance casting competitions.

Most of you will probably know this overhead distance casting event as the "Sea Trout Distance".

We were aware when designing the Barrio GT125 fly line, which replaced the GT140, that a lot of casting competitors cut their customised 27g heads from within the GT140 line profile and that a head cut from the new GT125 would prove to be too long. We didn't want to let you down, so we decided to have some fun developing a specialist 27g head.

The Barrio ST27 is approx 51 feet or 15.5 metres long and has a target weight of 27 grams. The actual product weight may vary between 26.8 and 27.2 grams, so please weigh ( and trim if necessary ) before entering a competition.

Enjoy ....................................
