Hardy Anglers are Well Rewarded.

                             Hardy Anglers are Well Rewarded.
“Cauld blew the bitter biting north”.... ,these words from Robert Burns may very well have been echoing round  the heads of the anglers who ventured out and braved the conditions at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum. However, the steady sport from trout who seemed totally oblivious to the weather above the surface kept the anglers cheery and fingers tingling as fish after fish came to the net.
Oil Industry worker Dave Simpson home from  working in Nigeria  certainly felt the difference in temperature but that did not put him off and he was delighted with his bag of nine all caught on a black and green minkie. Peter Young had a smiley face when his black fritz attracted  a dozen fine fighting fish in conditions described by fellow fisherman Ross Middleton as “Brutal Baltic”. Dave Simpson had a very nice 7lb specimen in his bag of six all tempted by his cutthroat minkie and was well pleased with his day.
At  the time of writing the lochs are 80% clear of ice and with the wind continuing to blow and cut into the few remaining frozen  areas, the Robbie Burns Pairs should go ahead this Sunday as scheduled with haggis neeps and tatties at lunch time to keep out the cold.
