We have endured a week of very mixed weather where the threat of ice descended on Wednesday to disappear very quickly that afternoon in a westerly breeze. The water has remained ice free since and the threat should not return this week. We also suffered from heavy overnight rain on Friday which led to very coloured water for our Saturday anglers but at the time fo writing (Sunday am) the water is now much clearer and without the threat of heavy rain, should remain in good condition for the coming week.
Some very good catches were recorded this week with the top place going to C Fraser from Turriff who on several visits landed 66 fish including specimens of 10lb and 16lb using Yellow Dancers, nymph and a Mini Zonker.
Other catches included: A Gibson, Gardenstown, 20 fish including a 14lb specimen on a Yellow Dancer and WSW, D Buchan, Peterhead, 15 fish to 9lb on a Cat's Whisker, D Duthie, Macduff, 14 fish on a WSW.
N Thomson, Turriff, K Fraser, Greeness and G Addison, Peterhead all landed 6 fish with the latter including a nice 10lb fish.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water which is open 7 days from 8:00am til dusk. Booking is not necessary and boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire. The fishery is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
The management and staff extend their best wishes for the Festive period and have decided that from 24th December to 5th January all catch and release will be half price e.g. 4 hours £5 instead of the normal £10. All anglers are welcome to join us over this period.
