How about producting a comp line that has marks every foot...no need for a measure then

Also, where do you measure from? Tip or rod, reel or a mark on the ground (The lead chuckers stand behind a wooden plinth and measure from this).

Because we measure from feet to where the fly lands Rob.  Knowing how much line you've cast gives a very false impression.  Casting a full 30 yard #7 line to the backing knot is fairly easy, getting it to turn over so it straigtens and actually gives a 90' cast is a bit different!!

Ahhhh...but even so, I am going on Dragons Den with my idea!...

If Airflo can take a standard sinking line that people complained about, saying is sank belly first, and re name it to the "Sweep" line, and with some clever marketing, tell anglers its designed like that...then I can make my first tenner with marking a line with feet marked on it

200 feet, or about 60 meters. Or in less arithmetical terms, about 3 times longer than ever needed

always way too long  . Mostly I hit the end of the tape, when I left it home  .
