Delgatie Castle Fishing Report w/e 1/12/12
« on: 02/12/2012 at 12:34 »
December and still going strong. No ice and plenty fish. This week has seen good fishing in very cold conditions with the air temperature never rising above 5 degrees. The fish have been feeding well and although a good percentage have been taking from the bottom there has also been reasonable activity in the middle levels of the water column.

Some larger specimens have reappeared with good condition fish in the 7-8lb range and with C Fraser from Turriff netting a 15lb specimen closely followed by D Duthie from Macduff with a 14lb plus fish. Whilst most fish have succumbed to the temptation of a lure, a goodly number have been showing interest in Buzzers and nymph patterns.

Two anglers who visited the fishing on a few occasions this week were well rewarded with C Fraser from Turriff landing 53 fish including his 15lb specimen and C Watt from St Fergus landing 27 fish,

Other notable catches from angler visits included B Gray from Largue with 9 fish all on Buzzers and A Murray from Gardenstown with 8 fish on a Black Fritz.

The coming week looks decidedly unsettled with the prospect of lower temperatures and the chance of some snow. Well, it is December after all.

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am til dusk and will be open over the festive period with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
