Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

Still fishing despite the weather conditions. Slightly iced this morning (Sunday) but cleared quickly and fishing by 10:00am. The changeable weahter has played havoc with the fish patterns but seems to have enticed some of the better fish to "take" with several anglers reporting catches in the 5 - 7lb range, but the majority are finding the fishing quite erratic with catches recorded near the top at certain times and dredging the bottom at other times.

The best catches recorded this week fell to:

G Thomson, Buckie, 21 fish to 5lb, (Yellow WSW), R Ronald, Macduff, 11 fish, (Yellow Dancer), C Ross, Turriff, 10 fish to 5lb, (Black Blob), A West, Fraserburgh, 9 fish to 4lb, (Orange Fritz), S Milton, Turriff, 6 fish, (Ok Dokey).

The forecast for tonight suggests further low temperatures but that the remainder of the week should be milder. Hopefully this will keep the ice at bay for another week.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am and currently closes at 4:00pm. The improving day lenght should see the closing time extended.

The fishery is open to all including visitors and novices and booking is not required. For up to date information and all enquiries phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
