Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

Apart from the odd day of weather related interruption, we have managed to enjoy fishing conditions over the past three weeks unlike the previous year when we were iced over and unfishable. The fishing has been harder going although most anglers have managed to land some fish. Our first consignment of fish for stocking has been received and introduced to the water on Thursday 5/12/2012, and despite coloured water over 60 fish were landed yesterday (Saturday) with a black/green or olive Fritz proving a particular favourite.
Apart from low temperatures with the associated icing problems, our main adversary is excessive rain which falls on sodden ground which is predominantly ploughed fields and leaches muddy water into the water courses which feed the fishery. The darker coloured lures such as WSW, Blobs and Fritz seem to work in the coloured water when fished mid depth.
The fishery has enjoyed a successful year in 2011 and we hope that our many friends have now put the festive season behind them and return to the more serious business of fishing.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days all year round. Booking is not necessary and boats, rods and all tackle is available for hire if required.
For up to date information on fishing conditions please phone Bob on 07980 999 006.
The owners and staff at the fishery extend our best wishes to all our customers for 2012 and look forward to seeing them again.  :z15
