Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

That was the week that was, low temperatures. bordering on frost, cold winds from the North and South West and heavy, squally rain showers. All of which combined to give little comfort to the anglers or encourage the fish to take. However, for some of the anglers who braved the conditions, catches were recorded and amongst the best was;

N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (Buzzers), B Milton, Buckie, 7 fish, (Various), J Down, Fraserburgh, 5 fish, (Lures).

And not to be outdone by his more senior combatants, junior angler A Caithness (11) from Kirkaldy landed 7 fish on a WSW. Most other anglers recorded catches in the 2 - 5 range and had to fish hard for their numbers. However, one bad week (like a bad day) just makes us appreciate a bit more our fortunes on a better outing.
The catches this week came mainly from the greater depths with lures being the most successful but at certain times of the day the fish rose up the water column and fell for Buzzers and wets.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days a week from 8:00am til 6:00pm (5:00pm from 1st November) and tackle including boats and rods is available for hire. Booking is not necessary and further information can be had by phoning Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
