Haddo Trout Fishery ( to October 10th )
« on: 11/10/2011 at 09:47 »
Hi folks

Haddo is great fun at this time of year, if the water is calm fish can be tempted on dry flies, spiders and small nymphs, in a ripple traditional bushy wets come in to play on the surface in size 14 and if the wind gets up more, the bushy wets work better in size 12 and 10.

Grey Duster, Adams, CDCs, Claret Bumble, Loch Ordie, Kate McLaren, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Damsels, various white nymphs and mini Cats have all produced good sport this week.

Ewan Lindsay enjoyed a good session with 12 fish up to 4 lb, Alex Burnett also had a dozen up to 4 lb and Lee Welsh had 10 fish up to 3 lb. Some of the larger trout have been tempted too, Derek McLaren netting 8 up to 6 lb, Wullie Milligan 6 up to 5 lb and Dan Bruce had 4 up to 5 lb on his first visit to the fishery.

Best wishes
Mike

A nice Autumn take on a team of three bushy traditionals

Not quite ready for the net

The smaller ones are just as bonnie as the larger ones

Was a superb few hours again.  Haddo did not fish well in a wind when it was mainly populated by rainbows but the brownies cooperate nicely.  great to get some action to tradtionals so close to home.  Becoming almost addictive  :grin

Nice pics Mike  :z16

The one I used was a Parachute Grey Duster rather than the traditional hackled version.
