After seeing this thread i showed my girlfriend the pictures, she then proceeded to tell me a story about fishermen putting sticks in their welly boots. She explained to me that fishermen did this because if bitten by a stoat they would not release their grip untill they feel a break ie. the bone but with the sticks there to break first the leg would be saved.
Anyone got a comment to clarify this utter nonesense??

your right mike, they are awesome animals, but if 2 otters go away with a £20-£30 fish each, twice a day, your out of pocket to the region of £100 a day!  :cry

I agree :z16 Sure they are pretty and all but I would have a feisty little Jack Russel or such on site to make their life a little less comfortable.

maybe a crazy idea, but have you thought of using a few feed boxes around the fishery to stop them taking your big fish? it whould save you a few hundred pounds over a year.just a thought of course  :z16

Having otters, herons and ospreys eating your stock is simply all part of running of a stocked fishery in my opinion :wink

I like them being there

I'd like some better photos as I think that is my subject for the next painting

so mr B, get the Vaseline off the lens :z4 and get me some good Haddo otter shots.
And I'm with you these should be the only shots getting taken at the otters.

Quality control at it's best IMHO :z16
