Fishing on the Ythan Estuary
« on: 12/04/2011 at 21:42 »
Hi folks ,
I heard today that the Ythan Estuary is open again . Does anyone know if this is correct and if so is it fly only or is spinning permitted ?
Regards ,

an article in last week's P&J - http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/2216316?UserKey=
basically says the private lease scheme is up, and from May 1st the estuary is open for bookings. £30 a day.

article says to contact Ythan District Fisheries Board but didn't give the details. I think they mean http://www.ythan.co.uk/

cheers

It's fly and spinner on the Ythan, both are effective :z16

Audrey Forbes was the previous contact - may still be

Although I had some good 'better' fish in May, Jim is bang on. June onwards is very much the time to be there.
Get a tide table :wink

Don't be discouraged its a slow learning process, talk to guy you meet on the river they will give you good advice, i;ve been fishing 50 years and i'm still learning.
you really need to put the hours in on a river to become proficient.

Cheers Jim,

Will have to go down the evening to see if any others are fishing to get some pointers.
Never fished the fly on a river before so all new to me, some great advise on the forum here but I tend to get things better when actually doing it practically than reading it.
