Howdy Knowel,

Where have you been? I've been creeping about your house late at night a few times recently and you've been nowhere to be seen? Working away?

You could have cut the weed patch at the front while sneaking about. I been on a drinking and sun burning competition called holidays! I won the sun burn bit!

You should try living near "special" Iain. High fences are the first line....

Gave some serious thought to venturing out tonight after seeing the lightning earlier this evening but you can't keep a good man down.....or is it a fool and his life are easily parted?

So off I went to visit an old haunt. I hadn't checked the river levels or even seen the river today so I was pleased to see it running at a nice height and although coloured, not prohibitively so.

Sitting tackling up I could see the merest flattening of water in a fast run, which flattened again twice before I was ready to go. Half a dozen casts and this spirited chap made venturing out the right decision.

Not a huge fish by any stretch but very welcome  :z16

Olives were the order of the day but I kept on my large emerger in case there were any toppers about.

I rose and pricked half a dozen smaller stuff and one decent one around the 1 3/4lb mark but sadly only the one to the net.

Great to be back out again (and with my camera back in business)

Been a bit lax of late with one thing or another, but i got to spend the day down the river today (first one on the Don for a Couple of months.).
And nice easy 9-3 session, most enjoyable.

Over the course of the day  there were several small hatches and each one encouraged the fish to come up.
Each hatch was Blue winged olives

The hatches were lasting about 20-30mins and seemed to occur every couple of hours, i managed to get loads of wee things, but did see a couple of good fish moving .
I managed to successfully spook both the bigger fish i tried to target (rusty already :roll) but during a pocket picking exploration i managed  one nice fish about 12"

I have a wee video of him disappearing back into weeds. but i have to work out how to put it up. :z16

I also saw a few Grilse splashing around, bonny and fresh looking too :z16. one guy i bumped into had a cracking brownie and a nice grilse about 5lb on the flying C so there are a few fish in the water, its running really bonny at the moment too :z18

Went for a cast early afternoon on the lower river and was pretty much Muired by the rain. A jacket may have been in order.

Didn't see much (read any) decent 1lb plus fish but managed a nice wee Troot to the dry  :z15 so the rod was bent.

Decided to have a rove upriver later in the day and although cold and breezy a fortunate rest up allowed me to notice this feeding fish, and 4 of his smaller chums.  :z16

Some very warm spells today between the showers downpours but definitely an Autumnal feel in the air.  :z6

Fished a home match again tonight.

5 Min's after hitting the water I was lucky enough to see a nice fish hiding in a hollow sipping down midge ..........................

The rest of the evening was filled with spooking fish, clumsy bank trudging and poor decision making  :z6
