Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

Another week of mixed weather with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday seriously affected by wind and heavy, squally showers leading to unpleasant fishing conditions. From Thursday conditions improved marginally but we were left with coloured water which has been slow to clear. The fish have been very "picky" about what to feed on and constant changing has been the order of the day. Most of the recorded catches have been secured deep with very little surface or top layer activity. Most of our anglers have now resorted to the lure box and the sight of intermediate lines has become more prominent. Pink has shown itself as very popular with the feeding fish with black a close second.
Steady catches were more the order of this week with 4/5/6 being the norm, however, J Abel from Fraserburgh landed 12, Peter Cowie from Buckie landed 10 and M Ewen from Turriff had a creditable 17 to make him this weeks top angler. Darren Begg from Stuartfield had a good 9.5lb fish with Sandy Watt from Turriff landing a nice 6.5lb specimen.
Let's hope the wather will settle a bit this week and fish behaviour becomes more predictable. At present we are formulating a plan for a Winter league to operate from 1st November and details will be avaialble from next week. Any angler interested in joining should contact Bob (details below).
Delgatie Castle is now a Troutmaster water which is suitable for beginners and juniors and boats, rods and tackle etc are always available for hire.
For full details contactBob on 07980 666 006 or call at the fishery to view our facilities. The fishery is open 7 days from 08.00 am.  :z15
