the loch at Delgatie remains frozen today (friday) with still about an inch of ice.
the prospects aren't looking good for the coming days with temps of -7 on sat night forecast and the fishery closed for christmas day and boxing day it will be well into next week before we can reopen (weather permiting).
an update will be posted here after christmas and also on my mobile phone answering service.

Haddo was the same today, the ice is still at least an inch to two inches thick. Like Delgatie, it looks like Haddo will be closed until about mid week after Christmas. I will post something on here when I think I can open again.

In common with other fisheries, Artloch also remains ice bound and is not expected to be ice free until, I suspect, the 27th; please call for update before travelling.

Likewise Pitfour has been frozen with about 4 inches over most the loch this week while i was away. Looks like it will in the middle of the week befor we are open again. Will post a message when we are reopening.

I suspect that Haddo will be closed for a few days yet .......... these frosty nights are making the ice even thicker.

hi folks
pitfour is still well and truly frozen with the ice getting thicker by the day with the locals now coming along to try and skate, looking kile it will be the start of the week at the earliest unless we get a heat wave

delgatie is also still frozen solid, despite the overnight thaw the ice remains about 3 inch thick and will be a few days yet before it is fishable.

Haddo was still frozen today (Saturday) but the ice is a lot thinner after last night's milder temps and windy conditions.  

I am hoping to be able to open again on Tuesday the 2nd, as long as we don't get more frost of course

Fished Braeside today , had a couple of Rainbows and a Perch. Because of the exposed location, It almost never freezes over. no sign of ice today.

The Ice at Pitfour is melting well and a good 3rd or more of it is clear enough to fish today so we will reopen from tommorrow (Wednesday) 9am

I struggled today 

First I went for a walk round the boats on the ice, then I scratched my head for a while, then I took a sledge hammer to it ( still at least 2 inches thick, but it makes a magic noise when you hit it  )

Managed to hammer a path to the middle of the loch and then got the outboard on the back of the fibreglass boat ( ice is not good for the wooden clinkers!  : ) and charged 

Got stranded on top of it a few times and managed to break my own record ........ a "boat curl" from the willows down to almost as far as the bottom island, serious stuff, very loud and not for the fainthearted  :

After about 4 hours I'd cleared about a quarter of the lake, but it was freezing up behind me again, so unless we get some wind tonight I could be back where I started tomorrow 

I have a couple of bookings for tomorrow too, so I hope some of the water stays clear tonight. I think it probably will, near the springs at least.

Will keep you posted during the week folks, Haddo is always one of the more difficult lochs to clear because it is so sheltered.

There was still quite a bit of ice about this morning, but it broke fairly easily and the wind was "working away" at it nicely. I let two boats out on the loch today, as three might have been a bit tight.

Young Andrew Lockhart caught the first fish of the year, a cracking blue trout, he tempted five fish up to approx 8 lb today on his pink bloodworm pattern and I got some good photos ................ but when I went to download them from the camera I deleted them by mistake ( old age creeping in? ) ............ SORRY ANDREW  :

I have three boats booked for tomorrow (thursday) and there should be enough open water for these to fish comfortably. I have plenty of boats available for Friday and Saturday at the moment, but please note that Sunday is fully booked for a club outing.
