Yup If its too long it can upset the balance of the fly during casting and cause it to spin twisting the leader, but otherwise its for your benefit, with parachutes the hackle hides the post from the fish. Not like wings in a traditional hackled fly, which the fish can see
Sandy I think... you think.... I was on about the sighter 'yarn' length on the Klink/Paradun. I meant the tag of hackle left after trimming....see embarrasing picture below
doesn't it look as if the hackle has been trimmed by Marty Feldman ?(spelling might be iffy) but it looks ace to the naked eye
