I can't see it in the places that I would expect one to be.

It’s pretty much exactly where you expect. You can see the tail and the spots.  Mind you I don’t think the resolution when it’s uploaded helps.

The clue would be, it’s swimming away from me after being released

I have no problem spotting fish in the water, but I often struggle when they are in photos

I give up too  -  even tried trying to expand the photo - can't see it.

What about this one then? Same idea the fish is swimming away after release. This time the tail is out of the water .

Haha  granted they are easier to see in my originals.
I could have done a Spot the Adipose competition along the same lines as the Spot the ball  but the thought the fish was fairer.
