It would be in about 1970 that I met Bernard Cribbins. It was opening day on Blagdon Reservoir. On arrival I parked up next to a brand new Cortina exactly the same as mine. The banksides were a bit crowded but I found a spot, and it happened to be next to Bernard.
We used to kill up to our limit, for the table and friends in those days and Bernard was quite disappointed that his first two were out of condition and black. Anyway we both caught a few nice fish and I remember getting my first reservoir brownie. We packed up at the same time and walked back to the car park together, chatting as we went - and guess what? - the brand new cortina that was identical to mine was his! A very pleasant encounter with a very pleasant chap.
