Now which river is it and what's the name of the pool (two answers are acceptable for the pool name) 

This will either be really easy or very tricky..... so have a go

Ah ha  Well done Mike - process of deduction It is indeed the River Shiel and, to save any further deliberations, the run into the pool which my Dad is fishing is called the 'Gullet' (south bank) or "Parapet" (north bank) and the big pool itself is - imaginatively - the 'House' or "Big" pool
