Fluorescent hackles
« on: 25/01/2008 at 11:00 »
I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I'm looking for a handful of hackles either hen, soft cock or partridge.
they need to be reasonably small suitable for size 10-16 flies

Problem is I'm looking for Fl.Pink, Fl. chartreuse, Fl. orange. nice and bright

Getting these is proving rather difficult and I'm on the scrounge just in case anyone has a cape in any of the above colours (possibly for saltwater/pike) that might have a few small feathers at the base that you wont use.

At risk of stating the obvious, have you thought of a white hen cape and a few tubs of dye?

By the way, what are you up to with garish colours that are more appropriate to neon lights in Las Vegas than to any self respecting river fisherman's fly box?   :shock

Nothing to do with the next round of the fly tying competition perchance? :grin

cheers

I have considered this and it is my last option.
I've never tried dyeing feathers before, could be quite interesting :grin
I also couldn't find an easy to use source of DFM Fl.Pink or Chart. Still we'll see.

As to their purpose :wink thats for me to know :z4

If it works, you'll all know as usual :z18

Cheers to the others for having a look, hopefully something appropriate
is lurking about somewhere :z16
