I have been fishing the Dee a fair bit and the thing that has really stood out is the amount of fly life coming off the river. Last night was typical with me arriving at 4.30 and fishing through until 9.30 with a constant hatch never ending. I had all sorts flying around and drifting past! Big flies, little flies, black flies, yellow flies, olive flies, it was amazing!
I have never seen this on the Don, yet every time I have fished the Dee in the last 2 weeks its been the same. Last night I was even seeing inch long nymphs in such significant numbers I though there were small fish swimming past at first.
Do how come the Dee does not have a big trout reputation?
