Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

At last, a whole week where weather conditions remained fairly constant and temperatures were near seasonal averages with cold overnight conditions leading to moderate daytime temperatures. The relatively settles weather lead to better catches and although lures of various types and colours were most favoured, good catches also fell to nymphs, buzzers and diawl bach. Surface activity was good but the dry fly was ineffective with most fish feeding just sub surface.
P Keir from Fyvie had three notable visits during the week when he netted 72 fish using WSW, Montana and Kate McLaren. The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Keir, Fyvie, 72 fish, (WSW, Montana, Kate McLaren),  A Davidson, Inverness, 18 fish, (Nymphs, Viva), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 16 fish, (Pink Blob, Black Buzzer), C Collie, Ellon, 10 fish, (Damsel Nymph), S Edwards, Turriff, 10 fish, (Yellow Dancer, Buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 9 fish, (Yellow Dancer), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 7 fish, (Yellow Dancer), J West, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Yellow Dancer, Diawl Bach), A South, Ellon, 7 fish, (Red Buzzer), D Apedaile, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Yellow Dancer).
