Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

What a week of weather we have just endured with long periods of rain from Monday to Friday with a constant and at times incessant wind from a north easterly direction. These factors combined lead to a week of less than enjoyable angling conditions with anglers very thin on the ground. The fish also appeared to be upset by the weather conditions and whilst lures were the most productive tackle for the week there were occasions when buzzers and wet flies proved productive. Dry fly fishing conditions were almost impossible with only occasional contact made during periods of reduced wind conditions. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 26 fish, (pink blob, buzzers), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 23 fish, (Kate McLaren), J McKay, Macduff, 14 fish, (blob), A Murray, Gardenstown, 12 fish, (green fritz).
The weather conditions for the coming week is predicted to improve but by no means indicating an Indian Summer.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open 7 days from 8am til 8pm as light permits. Booking is not necessary and visitors and novices are always welcome.
