Last week we suggested that some rainfall and lower temperature would help the fishing and our prayers were answered with a vengeance with heavy rainfall on Sunday night followed by a week of showers which ensured a steady supply of fresh water. Temperatures have also dropped and the fish activity has improved dramatically with heavy catches being recorded.
During the week we had visits from Bristows (4 members) who landed a total of 49 fish and BT Aberdeen (5 members) with a total catch of 33 fish.
The best recorded individual catches were; A Murray, Gardenstown, 49 fish (several visits), (White Nomad, Black/Green Fritz), J Armstrong, Barrhead, 33 fish, (Cat's Whisker/ Fritz), R Smith, Barrhead, 22 fish, (Various Lures), F Sangster, Aberdeen, 20 fish, (Ace of Spades, Lures), P Hay, Aberdeen, 13 fish, (Damsel Nymph), C Watson, New Deer, 13 fish, (Damsel/Hares Ear), S Williams, Aberdeen, 13 fish, (Blob), N Thomson, Turriff, 11 fish, (Olive Lure/Buzzers), R Hambly, Aberdeen, 11 fish, (White Damsel), S Argo, Aberdeen, 10 fish, (WSW), K Fraser, Greeness, 9 fish, (Black/Blue Bruiser), P Bain, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Blue Lure).
Although most catches fell to lures of various kinds, at certain periods the dry fly was still successful and the more settles week forecast should lead to more surface activity.
